Diablo 3: How to Transfer Your Battlenet Balance to Paypal [Real Money Auction House]
If you haven’t already found out for yourself that there is no official way to transfer your Battlenet balance to Paypal then I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news. If you made the mistake of not selecting Paypal or if you simply thought that you could do it later then you are stuck with your Battlenet balance, or, at least you would be if not for this workaround.
But B.net balance isn’t useless it can be used to purchase upcoming games – right? Not exactly.
Here is the list for what you can do with your B.net balance:
- Buy things on the RMAH of course!
- Pay for World of Warcraft character and guild services.
- Buy WoW expansion packs up to Cataclysm.
- Buy Diablo 3.
- Buy StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty
- Buy WarCraft 3.
- Buy Diablo 2.
That’s all very nice but it’s what isn’t on the list that is concerning:
- Mists of Pandaria.
- Diablo 3 expansion pack.
- StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm and Legacy of the Void.
Either this is an oversight or Blizzard do not want you to spend your RMAH-earned Battlenet dollars on new release games.
If around this point you are thinking you would like to cash out your B.net balance for Paypal then at least there is the following workaround available to you.
For this to work you are going to need a friend with both Diablo 3 and Paypal. Make sure it is someone you can trust because they are going to be handling your money for a period of time.
Once you have this detail sorted these are the steps you must follow to transfer your Battlenet balance into your Paypal:
- Have your friend list a relatively useless item on the RMAH for the exact amount of your Battlenet. If you have more than $250 then you are going to have to do multiple auctions.
- Make sure that you are fully aware of the stats of the item your friend has posted and make sure that it is the only one of it’s kind on the RMAH. Get them to send you a screenshot of the item to confirm.
- Purchase the item using your B.net balance. You will end up losing $1 to Blizzard for the listing fee.
- Once the money is in your friend’s Paypal have them send it to you as a ‘personal gift’. This is important as it prevents further Paypal fees from being taken out.
- Buy your friend a drink as a thank you!
Using this process only ends up costing you $1 more than usual, although it does take a lot longer
Hopefully Blizzard end up putting an official system in place to allow you to transfer your Battlenet money to Paypal without annoying workarounds like this. Until then I hope this helps!

I get it, but the trasfer fee of 15% will still apply upon purchase/sale of the item.
Therefore, it’s $1 and 15% of the item price, right?
Precisely.
This method only costs you a dollar more than if you had of simply sold to paypal in the first place.
Actually, just 0.85$ more, as if you would have gotten that 1$ out the official way, it would still have a 15% fee applied to it, so the end result i paypal will be only 0.85$ less than if you just took the money out to paypal from the start.
Also, you can buy Heart of the Swarm with battle.net balance, but yes, originally they didn’t mention it as something battle.net balance will allow you to buy.
Indeed, glad they changed that
